Dr. Jennifer Schaal-Sampson became the owner of American Family Hearing in 1995 as a young audiologist with a vision. She upgraded her practice with advanced diagnostic and hearing aid fitting techniques, and for the past three decades (and counting), she has worked to keep it cutting-edge and on top of the latest advancements in hearing aid technology.

Dr. Schaal-Sampson was drawn to the field of audiology because it combined two of her passions: working with people and working with technology. She likes to joke that deep down she’s an engineer who enjoys playing with gadgets. She can’t imagine herself doing anything else — she feels privileged to get to help people communicate better with their families and the world around them. She loves that her job is about fixing things, whether that’s fixing communication between people or fixing hearing aids.

Dr. Schaal-Sampson is a graduate of Rutgers University. She received her master’s degree from George Washington University and her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. Dr. Schaal-Sampson was an adjunct faculty member at the College of New Jersey. She is the former president of the New Jersey Hearing Aid Dispensers Examining Committee which is  responsible for testing and licensing hearing aid dispensers in the state. She is a longtime resident of East Brunswick, where she lives with her husband, a school teacher, and her two dogs and one cat.

Quality hearing care is about more than just fitting hearing aids; it’s a holistic, ongoing process that requires professional expertise and a personalized approach. Partnering with an experienced Audiologist who follows best practices, like Dr. Cliff’s methodology, is crucial for achieving meaningful and lasting results. Tackling hearing loss effectively is complex, requiring a dedicated provider who invests the necessary time, knowledge, and resources to ensure the best possible outcome.

Unfortunately, only a small fraction—around 20%—of hearing care providers truly follow these best practices. Choosing a provider who is committed to these high standards ensures that you receive the most comprehensive care, improving your hearing in important situations and with the people who matter most.
