American Family Hearing Center specializes in providing the latest and most technically advanced service and products to our patients. Great advances in the hearing aid industry in the past few years has enabled us to offer new solutions to the problem of hearing loss. We have the latest equipment to assess your needs, and feature Oticon, Widex and Phonak.
Central Auditory Processing (CAP)
Using a test battery, we can assess the child's (age 6 years or older) attention, short and long term memory, listening and localization skills. Aural rehabilitation exercises will be implemented once the problem areas are identified.
Hearing Protection/Swim Plugs
Custom ear plugs designed for each individual for the purpose of noise or water protection and complimentary in-office demonstrations at American Family Hearing Center
Tinnitus Evaluation
CAE will be performed, loudness and pitch matching to determine if a tinnitus masker and/or counseling are appropriate Aural Rehabilitation. Patient and family counseling are available to discuss the needs and concerns of the hearing impaired individual. Based on individual needs, any of the following Assistive Listening Devices may be dispensed:
- auditory trainer
- pocket talker
- infared system
- telephone amplifier
- alarm clock
Hearing Aid Evaluation (HAE)
A hearing screening will be performed. Various hearing aids, including programmable instruments, will be demonstrated to the patient in order to prescribe the appropriate hearing aid(s)
Hearing Aid Check (HAC)
Perform listening checks and electroacoustical analysis on the hearing instrument(s). We either perform an in-house repair or send it to the manufacturer for factory repair Hearing Aid Selection (HAS)
The patient brings a recent hearing test (no more than 6 months old). HAE procedures are performed
Complete Audiological Evaluation (CAE)
Complete hearing test to include as many of the following procedures as necessary:
- air conduction
- bone conduction
- speech auidometry
- tympanometry
- acoustic reflexes
- otoacoustic emissions
Pediatric Audiological Evaluation (PAE)
Complete hearing test using specific audiometric procedures designed for children:
- Behavioral Observation Audiometry
- Play Audiometry
- Speech audiometry
- Tympanometry
